This Spring, Chanel has launched a whole new range of Rouge Coco lipsticks that boast a more gentle and lip-loving formula. The full collection includes 29 shades ranging from nudes and corals to reds and plums. Some of the popular shades from the previous Rouge Coco family have been given new life in this relaunch, whilst many more new shades have been born. What is even more exciting, every lipstick has been named after someone special from Gabrielle Chanel’s life. Red symbolizes passion and therefore the shades in this color family are named after Coco’s past lovers. It makes for a compelling starting point, and today I’d like to introduce 2 special lovers – Arthur & Dimitri . Arthur “Boy” Capel is perhaps the most well-known of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s life, and it is no wonder it is used widely in all the campaign images for the new Rouge Coco Lipsticks. Old Hollywood is having a big moment right now… particularly as we’re all awaiting the opening of The Great Gatsby.  Notwithstanding its French roots, Chanel has launched its Avant-Première beauty collection inspired by classic cinema from the 1930s.  The collection features 8 Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshines, 6 Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colours, and 4 Le Vernis nail varnishes. My favorites (yes, more than one!!) are most certainly from the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine range of lipsticks!!  This latest iterations contain 30% more pigments for a more intense finish, yet still maintaining its lustrous shine!  They go on beautifully smooth, and feel incredibly lightweight on the lips.  I also found they have greater staying power than previous Rouge Coco Shines, and are far superior to anything else that I’ve tried. The new Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème lipsticks are exactly as their name implies, extremely creamy and hydrating on the lips.  However, I found the colors not as interesting… mostly nudes and a bold red.
